LCL Digital specialises in music recording, editing and mastering. It is run by Kirsten Cowie and Tom Leader and has been in existence over sixteen years.We work extensively in the fields of Classical, Jazz, Rock and World music.

Clients and artists that we have worked for include: World Circuit Records, Deux Elle Records, Livingston Studios, Ry Cooder, Ibrahim Ferrer, John Wallace, Tim Souster, Royal Academy of Music, JCL Records, Ruben Gonzales, Graham Collier, Jerry Boys, Diana Ross, Paul McCartney, Marti Pellow and Nick Welsh.

Over thirty years of recording experience means that we are well aware of the different requirments of many styles of music. Both Tom and Kirsten have worked as recording engineers on sessions ranging from single instrument recordings of folk music through big band Jazz, out and out rock and onto orchestral music of many styles. On top of that what we dont know about working to picture aint worth knowing. We can offer a mobile recording facility that is specified for each job. Be it a classical recording done on location in a church or hall, or recording a band at a concert hall or local gig. Mastering is based around an industry standard Sadie 24.96 mastering system. Much of our work is done at commercial or clients studios as an extension of the mixing process. This enables decisions that may affect the final cd to be made at an early point in the process and changes to be made to mixes, etc. We also do mastering for people from around the world and can download and upload work using ftp sites, therefore allowing you to use our skills without ever laying eyes on us. Editing can either be done from a written score/part or, in a more rock and roll style, by ear, depending on what is needed and your own style of work.

Many recordings mastered by LCL Digital have either won or been noninated for Grammy awards. The winners include: Ali Farka Toure & Toumani Diabate - In the Heart of the Moon, Ry Cooder & Manuel Galban - Mambo Sinuendo, Ibrahim Ferrer - Buenos Hermanos and Ibrahim Ferrer - Buena Vista Social Club Presents. Ten other CDs mastered by us have been nominated for Grammy awards over the years.
